Friendly Noise is a record label from Stockholm, Sweden, run by Stefan Zachrisson, Mattias Holmberg, Katja Ekman, Tomas Bodén, Petter Herbertsson, Hugo Lavett, Åsa Samuelsson, Per Johansson, Sebastian Rozenberg and Niklas Karlsson. Founded in 2002 by Zachrisson and Holmberg. Album releases by Differnet, Testbild!, Most Valuable Players, The Dreamers, Action Biker, and the “Friendly People Making Noise”, “Are You Scared To Get Happy?” and “Splendid Isolation” compilations.
Believe it or not but we still have boxes of unsold Friendly Noise titles! Now we want to get rid of them, since we’re no longer a record label. “SELLING OUT” is our last attempt at distribution of these CDs. Eight CDs for basically the price of shipping and package, a once in a lifetime give-away opportunity.
Please note: We have only a limited quantity of some titles. On the basis of first come, first served, your order will be shipped in the beginning of March. Promise. Go to our shop for prices, more info, and ordering!. Friday March 5th is the final date to order. What won’t get sold we’ll bury in the woods to be dug up by a future civilization. We owe them that, at least.
Since we’re not really functioning as a label anymore and therefore have problems distributing the vinyl edition of the best Swedish techno album ever made, we now offer it as a free download:
The time has come for Friendly Noise to say goodbye. Goodbye to being a record label anyway. We will re-appear soon in an other, journalistic, guise, though. More about that later…
One last thing before we go:
We released 207 songs between 2003 and 2009, the most complete discography is at Discogs. This is an invitation to all of you to list your 10 favourite Friendly Noise songs. List them in order 1-10, and e-mail us your list (friendlynoise@gmail.com) or post it as a comment in this Facebook note. We will then compile a list that will be available as a free download as a document of our history.
Liminals’ album “Hearthand”, released later in October, will be our last record. It’s soon out… we’re waiting for the cover now. If anyone wants to review it or interview Liminals you’re welcome, just get in touch! You can listen to two songs from “Hearthand” on our myspace and read more about Liminals here.
Thanks for everything, for listening and for your attention,
Friendly Noise
Next week, 9-12th September, it’s time for Phonofestivalen in Bergen, Norway, where Action Biker and Liminals will play. Check http://www.phonofestivalen.no/ for all further info!
Following up their message in a bottle on Vågor & strömmar from a couple of summers ago, Testbild! will release a new single, as yet untitled (catalogue number: FYN 105) in a hot air balloon this weekend in Malmö. The songs can only be heard on location in conjunction with the release, after that they will be permanently destroyed from all archives and forever lost. Come and watch its ascent… This will take place on Saturday August 22nd, at 6:30 in the evening, by the sea, next to Ljudkullen, Västra hamnen, Malmö. Bring your drink of choice…
Last year the Stockholm group Top Sound played live at the Friendly Noise club at Sugar Bar. Now we’re happy to release a single by them in our ongoing free mp3 series. If you’ve heard “A matter of precision” and “Francophilie” before do note that these are new and definite versions; proper late Summer hits!
“Embracing all clichés
detecting the flaws
Paris revisited
chords from the North Pole”
“Hollow, yet solid
analogue monotony
an enveloped incision
a matter of precision”
It’s time to announce that yes, there will be a Liminals vinyl record! A limited edition of 250 copies, so if you one want make sure to order here. This week we will send it to the manufacturers and then hopefully release it by the end of August.

More future plans: Autumn will start for us by travelling to Norway on September 11th & 12th, when Testbild!, Liminals and Action Biker perform live at Phonofestivalen in Bergen.
